Dual Processor Laptop

The Brand Doesn’t Matter As Long As Your PC Is A Dual Processor Laptop

Rivalry between Intel and AMD had really worked miracles for the computing industry. The continuous research paved way to the dual processor laptop. The industry and the users are the beneficiaries of the efforts. Thanks to these two companies. The mobile PC is now a wonder – with its speed and functionality. This is all because of innovations to come up with a dual processor laptop.

Dual core technology

This technological innovation makes use of two microprocessors in one laptop. These two can process more information at a faster rate. The old computer, be it desktop or laptop, has only one processor so the speed in processing data is limited. With the development of the dual core technology more software programs can be used at one time. Just think of it this way – two brains? Who can do better? The dual core is like this – having two brains in one unit.

Advantages of a dual processor in a laptop

  • It can process data faster and it does not get overloaded. As a result, more applications are used at one time.
  • It helps the user save power and energy because of the fast pace in performing its task. As a consequence, the laptop does not suffer over-heating.
  • The laptop’s operating system, as well as all the applications support multi-threading which is a factor for the PC’s speedy performance.
  • The laptop can be used with ease in more complicated games, videos, audios and graphics.

Manufacturers of dual core processor – There are two companies who compete for customer support. They are Intel Corporation and Advanced Micro Device, Inc.(AMD).

Intel Corporation

The dual processor of Intel Corporation is called Core 2 Duo or Dual Core. The duo or dual is attached to the brand to emphasize the presence of two processors in one system. The dual core brand came first. Newer laptops have a Core 2 Duo which is an enhanced version of dual core. The enhancements in this later version were less power consumption, faster processing of information and cooler temperature for the laptop. The graphics, photo editing, viewing of video and digital scrapbooking are better because of the 64 bit technology introduced by Intel in this core 2 duo processor.

Advanced Micro Devices, Incorporated

For AMD, it has manufactured its dual core processor and was branded Turion. The turion group, like the dual core of Intel, also underwent a series of enhancements. From the original Turion 64 came Turion 64 X2 which was further enhanced as Turion II Ultra. The latest version, Turion II Ultra also operates in a 64 bit technology. So, just like the Core 2 Duo, the Turion II Ultra is power saver, faster information processing and better graphics, audio, video, photo editing and scrapbooking.

The brand does not matter. What you should look for in the laptop you are buying is the specification that it is a dual processor laptop. With the dual processor you will definitely work faster. You can also use it for longer time because your laptop will not need resting – it will not overheat.
